About Chicago Farmer:
The son of a small town farming community, Cody Diekhoff logged plenty of highway and stage time under the name Chicago Farmer before settling in the city in 2003. Profoundly inspired by fellow midwesterner John Prine, he’s a working-class folk musician to his core. His small town roots, tilled with city streets mentality, are turning heads North and South of I-80.

“I love the energy, music, and creativity of Chicago, but at the same time, the roots and hard work of my small town,” he shares. Growing up in Delavan, Illinois, with a population less than 2,000, Diekhoff’s grandparents were farmers, and their values have always provided the baseline of his songs.

He writes music for “the kind of people that come to my shows. Whether in Chicago or Delavan, everyone has a story, and everyone puts in a long day and works hard the same way,” he says. “My generation may have been labeled as slackers, but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t work hard - many people I know put in 50-60 hours a week and 12 hour days. That’s what keeps me playing. I don’t like anyone to be left out; my music is for everyone in big and very small towns.”

He listened to punk rock and grunge as a kid before discovering a friend’s dad playing Hank Williams, and it was a revelation. Prine and Guthrie quickly followed. The name Chicago Farmer was originally for a band, but the utilitarian life of driving alone from bar to bar, city to city - to make a direct connection to his audience and listener, took a deeper hold.

The Greg and Dan \"Find\" Art Show
The Greg and Dan \"Find\" Art Show

Join us for a fun filled night at The Peoria Art Guild. We welcome guest curators Greg Batton and Dan DiOrio who are collecting "Found" Art from the Peoria area to be auctioned off by Greg Batton to raise proceeds to go towards The Peoria Art Guild's scholarship fund.

The Peoria Art Guild is very excited to be bringing back our MAP program. MAP stands for Mentor Apprenticeship program. The program was started initially by The Peoria Art Guild in 1990 with the guidance of John Heintzman and Susie Best. It has had significant changes throughout the years and we are excited to bring it back to Central Illinois with the lead of John & Jeff Heintzman. This program allows High School students to explore their talents under the direction of professional local artist mentors & instructors.

The apprentices will be exposed to painting, ceramics, photography, sculpture and printmaking. They will work directly with established local artists with experience in exhibition work. We want to give them a jump start into the life and works of a professional artist in Central Illinois.

Funds from this event will help to re establish the MAP program so we can offer these services to the students at no charge. We will also set aside additional funds to give other children who aren't able to afford our art classes opportunities.

Tickets $10 /PAG Members-$5

About Mr. Blotto:
Mr. Blotto was born in Chicago as an off-night vehicle for musicians who loved each others playing but were in different bands at the time. The only rule was that they would only play what they loved. That philosophy continues today and has led Mr. Blotto into unique musical situations.

Mr. Blotto takes the Jam band asthetic into areas unfamiliar to the standard Jam Scene. They have been known to cover entire albums by Led Zeppelin and the Who as well as perform entire shows of Country and Reggae. Artists as diverse as the Grateful Dead, the Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson and The Velvet Underground have seen their material interpreted by Mr. Blotto in the 2000+ shows the band has performed in the last 15 years, yet covers only pepper the bands hefty catalog of original material stemming from five studio albums and other unreleased crowd favorites.
