Introduce your child to a lifelong love of visual art and music in this fun-filled week-long camp for young creatives.

 

The first-ever Peoria Art & Music Camp is a great way to introduce students entering grades 1-12 to all that music and visual arts have to offer. Ignite their creativity and strengthen academic skills with a wide variety of fun activities including an introduction to musical instruments, movement, painting, clay, drawing, printmaking, collaborative projects, STEM activities, museum exhibits, planetarium experience, and more.

 

Each day will begin and end at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, with students traveling from the museum to the Peoria Symphony Orchestra and the Peoria Art Guild to get a studio experience. The camp will culminate in a Camp Showcase, held on the final Friday afternoon of the camp week. 

 

All are welcome and there's no experience necessary to join in the fun! This camp experience will start kids off on a creative journey in art and music that will last a lifetime.

 

SAMPLE DAY SCHEDULE

9:00 a.m. - Check In/ Drop-off

9:15-10:30 - Class 1

10:45-12:00 - Class 2

12:00-12:45 - Lunch and activities

1:00- 2:15 - Class 3

About the band:
Stephanie Aaron’s Song of the Lark is a collection of songs by her favorite composers and artists, including Duke Ellington, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and the Carpenters. It was recorded in Chicago with her husband and other great area musicians. Born and raised in Peoria, Stephanie attended public schools and Bradley University, earning a Bachelor's degree in theater arts. After working for several years as an on-air radio talent, she moved to Chicago, where she began singing in famous nightclubs and hotels such as The Peninsula, the Drake Hotel, and Jilly's on Rush Street. 

Water and soft drinks for $1.00 is offered at the bar. Attendees may bring their own food and drink or bring in food and drink from the Rhythm Kitchen.

Discover Cahokia Mounds and Dickson Mounds State Museum, which reveal sacred sites and customs of indigenous tribes who dwelled here before it became the United States. Experience Mark Twain–style paddleboats, world class museums, and unique lodgings like a train caboose or a treehouse. There are boulders for climbing, hot air balloons for riding, and some of the best spectator sports to enjoy, all just beyond the borders of your neighborhood or region. Local author Melanie Holmes shares her favorite tips about her home state.
