VisitDowntownPeoria.com is a collaboration of four districts focused on arts & entertainment in Peoria’s Downtown.

Peoria’s RiverFront District

The west shore of the Illinois River has been a center of commerce and urban activity since the first Europeans populated the Peoria area in the mid-1600s. As the area grew, the RiverFront District became the center of business and industry, offering merchants and industrialists easy access to water and rail transportation.  Warehouses, breweries, food processors and commercial distributors gave the area its unique flavor.

Revitalization of Peoria’s RiverFront began in the late mid 1990’s bringing restaurants, culture, entertainment and residential living.  Alive with concerts, festivals, museums, a historic paddleboat, and a top-notch weekly farmers market, today’s RiverFront is a favorite place for both residents and visitors.

Warehouse District

Peoria is determined to reinvigorate its Warehouse District, transforming it into a vibrant, mixed use residential and commercial neighborhood.  The infrastructure and groundwork are in place.  We watch with great enthusiasm as these historic buildings are developed and filled with restaurants, coffee shops, businesses, and residents!

Central Business District

Peora’s Central Business District is home to the Corporate Headquarters of Caterpillar, OSF Hospital, and Methodist Hospital.  There are over 17,000 jobs in the downtown area, which is the highest concentration of downtown jobs in Illinois outside Chicago. The Peoria Civic Center is host to the Bradley Braves Men’s Basketball, Peoria Rivermen Hockey, concerts, theater productions and large-scale conventions.  Surrounded by hotels, bars, restaurants, and sandwich shops, Peoria’s Downtown is a hub of business and social activity.
