Camp 244-Clay and Painting:

Ages 4-17.

June 17-21, 2024, 9am-3pm Daily.

$250 Early Bird, $300 After March 1, 2024.

During this camp students will work with both watercolor and acrylic paints to learn technical painting skills. Campers will elevate their knowledge of color mixing and color theory and learn about the elements of design. We will discuss how to plan a painting and paint in stages, as well be inspired by influential painters and painting styles. Students will finish the week by painting a final masterpiece in the medium and style of their choice.

Juneteenth Celebration
Juneteenth Celebration

Contemporary Art Center’s 4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration will take place Wednesday, June 19, 6:30-8:30pm at the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria in the Preston Jackson Gallery. The public is invited to this free event. No food or drink will be offered but guests may bring their own food and drink.

Painter Alice Traore, youngest daughter of artist Preston Jackson, founder of the Contemporary Art Center of Peoria, will share insights into her watercolor paintings on display in the gallery. Other speakers will also share short messages, including Cynthia Smith, Manager of the Lincoln Branch, Peoria Public Library.

In-between speakers, music will be performed by Judy Page, Preston Jackson and their band. The music for this event is sponsored by Weston Meuth.
